These are the words that Alberto and Selena Hoyos have lived by for more than two decades. Dance is not just their business, it’s their life! Together, they have over 50 years of experience teaching, speaking, performing, and dancing. They have traveled the world, performing for world leaders, royalty, celebrities and more.

During that time, they have taught thousands of individuals and corporate groups how to dance and have shown them why dance is a great vehicle to teach them important, necessary life skills. They’ve heard all the excuses from people who claim they can’t dance. Their favorite excuse is the one they hear most frequently: “I’ve got two left feet.” To this, they comfort the hesitant client by explaining there’s no need to worry, they just received a new shipment of right feet last week and will be happy to share.
Alberto Hoyos was born in Bogota Colombia, South America. He has over 28 years in the dance industry. An award winning leader, Alberto worked in the Fred Astaire Organization for 18 years, serving as a sales and dance trainer, choreographer, performer and competitor, as well as a franchise owner. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Camara de Comercio ColomboAmericana (American Colombian Chamber of Commerce) and last year served on the Board of Directors for the Orlando Chamber of Commerce Small Businesses.

Selena Hoyos danced different styles early in life and began her Ballroom dance training with Arthur Murray Studios over 20 years ago and continued training with the Fred Astaire Organization. She is the Co-Founder and Visionary Artistic Director of Rhythmic Harmony Productions, Inc. Selena is an instructor, choreographer, manager, performer and competitor. She has hosted numerous television shows, appeared in movies, modeled professionally and is a writer.
What’s the secret to their success with their students (even those who claim to have two left feet)? As instructors, Alberto and Selena know that different people have different learning styles; however, they found early on that one particular instruction method had an extremely high success ratio with their students. It is the approach they continue to use today: they don’t teach dance to the person, they teach the person to dance. Just as people have different approaches to life, students approach dance differently. For some it is a physical process, for others, a mental process, and still others view it as a spiritual process.

Alberto and Selena believe success in dance and life requires a combination of physical, mental and spiritual practice and that achieving balance physically, mentally and spiritually allows one to live life in rhythmic harmony (hence their company name, Rhythmic Harmony, and firm belief that “life is a dance”).
Recognizing the power of music and dance in helping people of all ages become more confident, more relaxed and more fully engaged in their work and personal lives, Alberto and Selena founded The Life Dance Academy™ to further expand their training offerings and share their passion for dance with those who want to achieve their personal best, whether at work or at home. The Life Dance™ programs are designed to teach people how to live life to the fullest. Alberto and Selena Hoyos are more than just dance and business partners. They are partners in life as well. Together 18 years and married for the last 11, they met when both were instructors with the Fred Astaire organization. They are the proud parents of Alejandro Julian (age 7), Elena Esperanza (4) and Emilio Angelo (1 year). They enjoy traveling, horseback riding, nature, sports, and, of course, dancing.
